About

Hello!  My name is Ashley Swartzentruber, and I am part of an enthusiastic team of individuals who love what we do!  We are Coast to Coast Events, and we organize creative shows across Canada.

I would like to take a moment to tell you who we are and where it all began.

Audrey deJong, founder and owner of Coast to Coast Events, began this journey over 20 years ago.  I had a chance to sit down and ask her a few questions:

Q: What is your story?  How did you get to where you are today?

A: “I was teaching about 100 students in four to five painting classes per week at my home studio.  I found that when I wanted to learn new techniques or how to use different mediums, I always had to travel to the United States, where I would attend conventions, classes or workshops.  In February 1996, after returning home from the Las Vegas Creative Painting show, my husband and I were discussing why we do not have anything like that show here in Canada.  This is when the dream turned into a reality, and we hosted our first show in October 1996: “Southwestern Ontario Paint In” in London, Ontario.”

Q: What inspires you to work in the creative industry?

A: “I love my job, and the people that I have met over the years has made it a real pleasure.  I have turned my hobby into a career and enjoy every minute of it!”

Q: Why did you decide to launch Pin-it Canada?

A: “We noticed in the industry, that many art forms were overlapping, and we wanted to bring them together into one show.  The concept of the weekend is to have numerous retreats, of different art forms, going on at the same time.  Thereby, having as many people being creative in the same place at the same time, and introducing a variety of art forms to all attendees.”

Q: What is your hope for the future of Pin-it Canada?

A: “My hope is to have Pin-it Canada be ‘the show’ to attend in Canada.  I hope that people will come together to learn, grow, share and have FUN!”
